Where to get strength: what to do if vital energy tends to zero

You pulled yourself together, made a self-development plan and decided to adhere to it firmly ... But by the middle of the first week, you have no strength left, and your only desire is to put it on a shelf and live as before. What happened? Could it be that you have chosen the wrong target? Usually, the problem is much more prosaic - you lack inspiration and vitality.

Why do you need inspiration

Constant self-improvement requires discipline and willpower. But sometimes even the most strong-willed people give up, the goal ceases to seem important and coveted, you want to give up everything and live the old way. Unwelcome thoughts pop up in your head and they slow down your development: "Why should I finish these courses if I am paid well at this job? Why read this book if I am already erudite enough? Why get up for a run if I already feel fine?"

There are two ways to overcome this stupor. The first is to continue to overpower yourself, relying only on will and discipline. This method can work, or it can lead to emotional burnout and real hatred of your goal. The second way is to find inspiration again.

Inspiration helps us keep our goal in mind and keep it a priority. Think back to your emotional state when you first thought about your goal and decided to set it. How did you feel? Most likely, full of enthusiasm, impatient, willing to act - this is inspiration.

How to get inspiration back

There are so many ways to inspire yourself: writing a wish board, reading motivational articles and quotes. This is also supported by our free Service, where you can get regular motivation and remind yourself of your goals and your dreams.

Vital energy and how to work with it

Inspiration is inspiration, but you still need to find the fuel for working on yourself. Self-development is a very energy-consuming thing because you need to resist laziness, temptations, and sometimes the pernicious influence of other people who (consciously or not) are trying to drag you back and keep you in the same point. We expend vital energy to fight every obstacle.

Vital energy is not the same as physical energy. You may be physically vigorous, but worn-out - people working in the office and the service industry are very familiar with this state. When your internal "battery" is at zero, you feel that you have just enough strength to survive on autopilot until the evening and flop down to sleep. In this state, it is very difficult to think, feel and perceive.

On the contrary, when your "battery" is fully charged, you feel like you are ready to move mountains! If this state coincides in time with the highest inspiration, at such moments you are capable of almost anything.

So, our task is to try to spend as much time as possible in a "full battery" state.

Where to get vitality

Each of us has actions that "discharge" or "charge" us. These are not necessarily the things that please us. For example, you may be madly in love with your job, but feel completely tired after a shift. If you want to be always full of vital energy, you need to find activities that replenish your inner "battery". These are usually relaxing activities that require little effort on your part. Here are some examples:

  • reading of books you’ve read before;
  • walking in the park;
  • meditation;
  • simple handiwork;
  • hovering in the clouds;
  • conversation with a close person who shares your aspirations;
  • listening to music.

Continue this list for yourself. Choose the activities that most relax you and make it a rule to do them regularly. Oddly enough, sometimes you have to force yourself to rest - we are so accustomed to living in a rhythm of constant tension that spending an hour or two with a book in an armchair seems to us an unaffordable luxury. It also takes energy to redesign your daily routine. But over time, you will notice that the constant stress that forces you to live on "autopilot" disappears, and awareness increases.

Getting rid of unnecessary

Any productive actions, whether self-development or creation of a project, consume our energy, but they do not become bad because of that. Some things, on the contrary, consume our energy without a specific purpose, steal it from us - we need to get rid of them. Sometimes we can’t do anything about them - for example, if you live in a metropolis, you can’t escape periodic traffic jams. But others can and should be fought!

Surely you think about social media - and that’s right, but it is not the only devourer of our energy. In fact, there are so many of them that all of them cannot be listed:

  • time killer games;
  • soup operas, films and books with low artistic value;
  • news, especially viral;
  • doubts and senseless introspection;
  • unpleasant thoughts about the past, mental attempts to "remake" past events;
  • cluttered space;
  • communication with people unpleasant to you;
  • destructive emotions: envy, resentment, etc.

Observe your condition. After which actions and emotions do your energy and motivation sharply decrease? Take control of them first.
